  • How to Winterize your Coast Spa

  • Bromine Systems Fresh Water Startup
    DAY 1
#1- add one bottle of ph balance directly into the water. let the tub run as usual for one full day before putting in any other chemical! what this does is raise and balance your ph level and maintains it for three whole months! that means you don’t have to check and balance it weekly!

    DAY 2
*insert a new yellow nature2 mineral stick into your filter cartridge. see instructions on the side of the box for proper installation. the stick lasts 4 months*

#1- add one bottle of metal gone directly into the water and run the pumps for one hour.

#2- test spa water with aquacheck test strips only to get your hardness reading. adjust as necessary by adding calcium booster. most spas on long island need one whole bottle. run umps for 20 minutes.

#3- test spa water with aquacheck monopersulphate test strips and adjust the alkalinity (with alkalinity increaser) as needed. run the pumps for 20 minutes.

#4- add one cap of chlorine granuals (spa 56) directly into the water and run the pumps for 20 minutes.

#5- add shock (either caled cense or renew) at the rate of 2 ounces per 250 gallons of water. (usually one cap full for most spas) run the pumps for 15 minutes (with the cover off)

#6- make sure that your filter cartridge(s) are clean and free of any soaps or oils. it is highly recommended to replace your filter once a year. you should also use filter clean once every 2 weeks or so depending on usage. it is a good idea to keep 2 filters onhand so that you can swap them back and forth. when you take one out to give it a good cleaning, you can put the other one in…this makes a water change a breeze and also makes each cartridge last a lot longer.

**keep in mind we do free water testing here at the store 7 days a week!! if you bring us in a small sample of your water, we can walk you through step by step what to do depending on your individual readings! or call us, please with any questions.

  • Bromine Systems Weekly Maintenance
#1-test spa water with aquacheck monopersulphate test strips. Use spa up if your ph level is low. Use alkalinity increaser if your alk level is low. Use calcium booster if your hardness level is low. Use cense if your mps level is low.

#2-after every use of the spa, make sure to put in about 1 capfull of cense. This is a shock treatment and kills any bacteria that may have come off our bodies while soaking. Run the spa for 15 minutes with the cover off. If you do not use the spa very often, make sure to do this step just once a week.

#3-add brom tabs as needed in either your skimmer basket, or in a floater (recommended). Make sure to check to see if the tablets are disolved once a week. If they are disolved, add more.

#4-clean your filter every one to two weeks by pulling it out and rinsing it with a garden hose. Once or twice a month you should also use filter clean (spreay or soak) to really clean out the pleats of the cartridge. Also, it is a good idea to have an extra filter cartridge on hand so you can swap them back and forth while cleaning. This will help prolong the life of both cartridges.

#5-drain, clean and refill your spa every 90-120 days. Here is a list of very helpful products to which you can refer if you have any water “issues” For cloudy water use “bright & clear” For foamy water use “foam down” For scum lines use “enzyme” To clean & pollish shell use “fast gloss” To wipe down shell after a drain use “citrabright” To clean out plumbing lines use “jet clean” For scale build up use “defender” To scent the water use “insparation fragrances”
